Anyone ever import a CADENCE Allegro PCB into SolidWorks?
As the design of PCB's becomes more complex, the need to do 3D modeling of a printed circuit board also becomes more important. Many PCB design tools have an interface to SolidWorks via the IDF file format - however this approach is useful mostly for components, connectors. However, PCB document files from Altium Designer must be opened through the Import feature. Navigate and pick the design files to be converted and select OK. The SOLIDWORKS PCB Import Files conversion will happen in the background and you will receive a completion message when finished. In the product selection step, select the SOLIDWORKS PCB Viewer as shown below to install. Click Next to begin the installation. Once the installation is complete, you can launch the Viewer and sign in to SOLIDWORKS PCB Services to access your projects. The Server address will be:9780.

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever import a PCB design (done in Allegro) directly into SolidWorks. If so what have you found to be the best intermediate format? Or what intermediate formats are available for export within the Allegro environment (e.g. IGES, STEP, etc.).How To Open Solidworks Files
